Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act (SCRA)
§ 511. Definitions [Sec. 101]
For the purposes of this Act:
(1) Servicemember
The term "servicemember" means a member of the "uniformed services", as that term is defined in section 101(a)(5) of title 10, United States Code.

California state law also provides early termination rights when a tenant enters military service or receives military orders. (Cal. Mil. & Vet. Code § 409.)
409. (a) 409. (a) The lessee on a lease described in subdivision (b) may, at the lessee’s option, terminate the lease at any time after the lessee’s entry into military service
(b) (1) A lease of premises occupied, or intended to be occupied, by a "service member" or a service member’s dependents . . .
