2020년 가을학기에 복학에 따른 재정보조의 신청에 대해
1977년 1월 1일 이 후에 출생을 했다면
아직 Dependent신분으로 구분이 되어 부모님의 수입과 자산에 대한 내역이 재정보조 신청서에 제출되어야
합니다. 다시 말하면, 오히려 스스로 수입이 있고 현금자산으로 학비를
부담하려 한다면 가정분담금(EFC)가 가중되어 재정보조의 혜택이 많이 축소가 될 것으로 예상이 됩니다.
그리고, 재정보조 신청마감일이 대학의 재학생에 대한 우선마감일자(Priorty
Deadline)을 넘겼고 주정부 마다 마감일이 다릅니다. 만약, 주정부 마감일을 넘겼다면 주정부 보조는 혜택이 어렵겠습니다. 더욱이 학기 중에 영주권을 받은
경우로써 재정보조 신청은 예외로 신청할 수가 있으며 대학에서도 재정보조의 진행은 할 수 있겠으나 대학에 따라 이러한 경우에는 거의 대부분 재정보조
어필을 잘 진행해야만 할 것입니다. 재정보조의 진행에 있어서 Independent 자격이 되기 위해서는 아래의 질문에서 한가지라도 "Yes"이라면 부모님의
수입과 자산내역이 필요가 없이 스스로 Independent로 진행할 수는 있겠으나 그렇지 않다면
Dependent로써 반드시 부모님의 수입과 자산이 적용될 것입니다.
질문사항:
1) Were you born before January 1, 1997?
2) At the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, will
you be working on a master's or doctorate program (such as an MA, MBA, MD, JD,
PhD, EdD, or graduate certificate, etc.)?
As of today, are you married?
3) Do you now have?or will you have?children who will receive
more than half of their support from you between July 1, 2020, and June 30,
2021?
4) Do you have dependents (other than your children or
spouse) who live with you and who receive more than half of their support from
you, now and through June 30, 2021?
5) At any time since you turned age 13, were both your
parents deceased, were you in foster care, or were you a dependent or ward of
the court?
6) Are you currently serving on active duty in the U.S. armed
forces for purposes other than training? (If you are a National Guard or
Reserves enlistee, are you on active duty for other than state or training
purposes?)
7) Are you a veteran of the U.S. armed forces? *
Has it been decided by a court in
your state of legal residence that you are an emancipated minor or that someone
other than your parent or stepparent has legal guardianship of you? (You also
should answer “Yes” if you are now an adult but were in legal guardianship or
were an emancipated minor immediately before you reached the age of being an adult
in your state. Answer “No” if the court papers say “custody” rather than
“guardianship.”)
8) At
any time on or after July 1, 2019, were you determined to be an unaccompanied
youth who was homeless or were self-supporting and at risk of being homeless, as
determined by (a) your high school or district homeless liaison, (b) the
director of an emergency shelter or transitional housing program funded by the
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or (c) the director of a
runaway or homeless youth basic center or transitional living program?
