안녕하세요. 먼저 성실한 답변에 감사드립니다.
제 아들이 대학교에 이번 학기 2월말에 몸이 안좋아서 휴학을 하게 되었습니다.
학비는 환불을 전혀 받지못한다고 합니다. 그런데 2년동안에 학생론을 받은것들이 있는데 언제 다시 학교에 돌아갈지 모르는 지금 상황에서 지금부터 갚아야 하는지 어떻게 처리해야 하는지 궁금해서 글을 올립니다. 어디에다 연락을 해야하는지요... 감사합니다.

Your son is entitled to one 6-month grace period after he stops attending a school at least half time. During this grace period, loan servicer (agency) will contact and tell your son how much payments will be and how to make them. If your son goes back to school next semester, he can obtain a deferment (Your son can postpone payments). Your son can see his loan history and who his loan servicer (agency) is by signing at www.nslds.ed.gov. Once your son contact his loan servicer (agency), he can also ask if he is able to defer (postpone) his loan payment by illness.

Dear, Daniel. I think that you are asking if you can find someone who can help you getting federal student loan. You said that you had filled out FAFSA and you are in the middle of process getting green card now. If your FAFSA could not be processed due to non permanent resident (If you do not have green card number yet), you cannot apply for federal student loan at all. I am sorry, but federal student is for only US citizen or permanent resident. If you have green card number before you receive green card during school year, you can fill out new FAFSA to apply for federal grant (PELL) and federal student loan again. You asked if you can apply for private education loan before. I answered that you can apply for it with endorser (co-signer) and credit will be checked by bank. Financial Aid님 저는 fefsa프로그램에 해당된 론은 할 수 없습니다. 프라이빗 학생론은 Sallie mae 또는 각 은행에 직접 인터넷으로 어플라이 해야 하나요. 학자금 론이 꼭 필요해서요. 감사합니다.

Dear, Daniel. I fully understand what you need now. You can apply for private student loan through bank online. keep in mind that your credit will be checked by lender. Also, you can apply with endorser (co-signer) who has good credit. Even you get approved for private student loan with endorser (co-signer), you are still responsible for loan payments. If you do not make payments later, your endorser (co-singer) will be responsible for your loan payments. I do not think that you need to pay someone helping you apply for private student loan. Please, do not pay anyone for it. You or your endorser (co-signer) can do it online. Try it with SallieMae. SallieMae is a major lender for private student loan.
