안녕하세요 콜롬비아 bogota에서
Miami 로 오는 spirit airline 비행기가
air traffic과 항공사 자체의 문제 때문에 arrival time이
1시간 정도 지연되었고(it was supposed to be 6:50, but we arrived
at 7:40), 본래 transfer 하여 LA로 가려던 항공(8:10)를
놓쳐버렸습니다.
항공사에 항의를 해봤지만 이건 air traffic 때문에 발생한 것이라며
숙소를 제공하지 않았고, 결국 자비로 숙식을 해결하였습니다.
비행기는 정확히 24시간 후의 비행기를 배정해 주었으며
보상을 일절 없다고 합니다.
30분에 시간이 있었음에도 항공사에서는 connection이 delay 되었으니
걱정하지 말라고 하였고, 그 말을 믿고 custom을 끝낸후에 나왔지만
비행기는 이미 가버린 상태였습니다.
매니저를 만나 대화를 해보니 이미 도착한 순간부터
우리의 비행기 티켓은 다음날로 rebooked 되었다고 합니다
그 이유는 7:40분에 도착하면 어떠한 경우에도 8:10분 비행기를
탈 수 없기 때문에 그렇게 했다고 하더군요, 그리고 이 경우는
air traffic 때문에 발생한 것이기 때문에 자신들의 잘못은
일절 없다고 하며 보상도 없다고 합니다.
다만 한가지 궁금한 점은
여행을 가기전 travel insurance를 가입하였는데 영어가 짧아서
이와 같은 경우 혜택을 받을 수 있는지 궁금하네요
missed connection이 최대 보상금은 $500 라고 나와 있으며
다음은 insuarace policy 입니다.
Missed Connection: If You miss Your cruise or tour departure because Your arrival at Your Trip destination is delayed for 3 or more hours, benefits will be paid, on a one-time basis, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount, for a) the Additional Transportation Cost to join the Trip and b) the unused portion of the prepaid expenses for land or water Travel Arrangements, due to: a) any delay of a Common Carrier (the delay must be certified by the Common Carrier); b) a documented weather condition preventing You from getting to the point of departure; c) quarantine, hijacking, Strike, natural disaster, terrorism or riot.
These benefits will not duplicate any benefits payable under the policy or any coverage(s) attached to the policy.
Travel Delay: Benefits will be paid for reasonable accommodation, meal, and local transportation expenses incurred by You, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits, if You are delayed for 8 hours or more while en route to or from, or during a Trip, due to: a) any delay of a Common Carrier (the delay must be certified by the Common Carrier); b) a traffic accident in which You or Your Traveling Companion are not directly involved (must be substantiated by a police report); c) lost or stolen passports, travel documents or money (must be substantiated by a police report); d) quarantine, hijacking, Strike, natural disaster, terrorism or riot; e) a documented weather condition preventing You from getting to the point of departure.
These benefits will not duplicate any benefits payable under the policy or any coverage(s) attached to the policy.
만약 보상을 받을 수 있다면 어떻게 claim을 해야되는지
