Driver's License Requirements:
To receive an Illinois driver뭩 license or ID card, you must provide acceptable forms of identification to prove name, date of birth, Illinois residency, Social Security number and signature for comparison. New residents must surrender any out-of-state licenses or ID cards issued prior to the issuance of an Illinois driver뭩 license or ID card.
Acceptable Identification (photocopies not acceptable)
In an effort to prevent fraud and protect the identities of driver뭩 license and state ID card holders, the Office of the Secretary of State verifies Social Security numbers with the Social Security Administration (SSA). Online verification of name, date of birth and Social Security number is required before issuance of new and renewed driver뭩 licenses or ID cards. Renewal notices will indicate the need to bring additional forms of identification to complete verification of this information
