Q.소셜 번호와 관련해서 여쭙니다.

미국 영주권이 있는데 소셜 번호가 없을수가 있나요?

렌트를 주는데 미국 영주권은 있는데 소셜 번호가 없다,고 하네요.

이럴때는 어떻게 처리하는게 좋을까요?

영주권을 받고도 소셜번호를 받는 것은 여전히 선택사항입니다.  또한 소셜번호는 법적, 공식적인 절차에 의하여 요구되지 않는 한, 제출을 요구하지 않는 것이 일반적입니다.

난감하시겠지만 저라면…..
소셜 번호 있는 사람으로 고르겠습니다.
그래야 신용조사도 가능하지 않겠나요.

그러나 대신 ITIN번호가 있다면 그와 함께
Valid 운전면허증, 은행 잔고증명 등이 있으면 되겠네요.

아 그리고 만약 재정 보증인이 있다면 혹은
학생이고 one semester씩 선불이라면….

캘리포니아 법률 CA Civ Code § 1940.3 은
임대인이 렌트 구하는 세입자에게 이민 신분에 대해 문의하는 것을 금지하며 . . .

"(b) A landlord, or any agent of the landlord, shall not do any of the following:

(1) Make any inquiry regarding or based on the immigration or
citizenship status of a tenant, prospective tenant, occupant, or
prospective occupant of residential rental property.

(2) Require that any tenant, prospective tenant, occupant, or
prospective occupant of the rental property disclose or
make any statement, representation, or certification
concerning his or her immigration or citizenship status."

"Credit screening companies can run a credit report without a Social Security number
if they have information such as the Individual Tax Identification Number.

Because of this the California Apartment Association (CAA) recommends
not rejecting applications because they do not have a Social Security number.

Rather, they recommend a credit report and allowing the applicant to submit
other evidence of financial stability, such as payment history on monthly bills like utilities."

보통 2주~4주 안에 소셜번호를 받죠?

혹시 소셜번호는 있는데 소셜카드가 없는게 아닐까요?
영주권 신청할때 받으셨을텐데요…..
렌트 주셔야하는데 신용검사가 안된다면 글쎄요 위험하고 찝찝하면
다른 사람에게 기회를 주세요.
요즘은 렌트비 안주고 뻔뻔하게 배째라하는 사람들도 많더라고요.
